Apple River Fort was a defensive stockade built during the 1832 Black Hawk War to protect settlements along the Apple River in Jo Daviess County, Illinois. The Fort shares its story through living history programs from May through October. The Interpretive Center is available throughout the year with displays depicting lead mining and native life.
